Literacy Volunteers of Bangor

Officer Dan Gastia was downtown in early June to help out with the 6th annual book drive for Literacy Volunteers of Bangor.

Apparently, in the photo, taken in front of the Briar Patch bookstore on Central Street, the kids allowed Gastia to look at the pictures during the photo op—we appreciate it.

Community members volunteered to read with the kids and people brought books by the box, as depicted in photo number two.

To learn more about Literacy Volunteers and all the great things that this organization is doing—check out their Facebook page, or go directly to their website at www.lvbangor.org.

Keep your hands to yourself, leave other people’s things alone, and be kind to one another.

I should note that Gastia was actually reading to the kids, he is doing great work in his role as a community outreach officer.

To reach Officer Gastia with questions or concerns, drop him an email at daniel.gastia@bangormaine.gov

We will be here.
