Beauty and Life All Around Us

There is beauty and life all around us.

This past Saturday was yard clean up day at Fort Awesome. Mrs. Chief mowed, so I picked up the yard beforehand and cleaned off our deck.

While cleaning the deck, I saw this spider hanging out between two railings and I have no problem admitting that I screamed and did some odd “spider web by my face brake dance” before moving a safe distance away.

I researched the guest and learned it’s harmless unless irritated, so my plan is to not irritate it. (Mrs. Chief says I should work in not irritating her while I’m at it.)

My daughter loves all things living, so I knew that harming it was not an option. (Last night, she relocated another spider she saw—from the house back outside.)

I took these photos and we’ve been watching “Charlotte” as we come and go.

Life here is busy, just like I’m sure it is at your home, but I love how we’ve all slowed down, just a little, to spend time as a family watching and visiting about our new guest.

She was busy last night, as this “cocoon” was new this morning.

There is beauty and life all around us, if we just need to slow down and watch it.

Stay safe,

Lee
