The International Association of Chiefs of Police Law Enforcement Policy Center has published four new and updated Model Policy and Concepts & Issues Papers!

• Grooming and Appearance (Model Policy and Concepts & Issues Paper)
  These documents provide information on grooming and appearance standards for sworn officers, to include guidance related to body art and modification, head and facial hair, fingernails, eyewear, jewelry, and dental ornamentation.
• Missing Children (Model Policy and Concepts & Issues Paper Updates)
  Working in conjunction with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, these updated documents represent the most current best practices for responding to reports of missing children. The updates include additional guidance related to children with special needs, including autism, Down syndrome, and other conditions characterized by physical, social, or cognitive impairments.
• Patrol Canines (Model Policy and Concepts & Issues Paper Updates)
  Formerly referred to as Law Enforcement Canines, these revised documents explore the appropriate use of patrol canines, provide legal discussion related to the use of canines, and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the find-and-bark and find-and-hold approaches.
• Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (Model Policy and Concepts & Issues Paper)
  These documents, drafted by the IACP Aviation Committee, are intended to provide personnel who are assigned responsibilities associated with the deployment and use of small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS) with instructions on when and how this technology and the information it provides may be used for law enforcement and public safety purposes in accordance with law.
